PDC Holds First Meeting

The first meeting of the school year for the Professional Development Council was held on August 20, 2009, with members Rhonda Bradshaw, Mary Ann Henry, Sheena Parks, Jennifer Vaughn, Kelli Hendrickson, Brenda Marshall, Vicki Miller, and Debbie Christman present. Also present was secretary Debbie Skahan and administrators Dan Duling and Larry Coltrane.
Discussion regarding Interlocal finances and level of funding for staff development for 2009-10 was held. It was announced there will not be a budget for national events this year and preferential factors for attending other events are as follows: Fair and equitable, priority to Kansas state group conferences, minimized travel and lodging, group travel, and 'global' information that numerous special education staff need to know.
Results of the teacher survey from the August 6 inservice at Pittsburg High School were reviewed and plans made to utilize this information for the regional inclusion/resource inservices as well as some special events.
Requests to attend learning events and for inservice points were reviewed and recommendations made.
The next meeting of the PDC will be September 24, 2009.
